You can work with wood

Carpenters have been building with wood for over 150 years in New Zealand and it is still far and away the most popular framing because it is so reliable, versatile and easy to work with.

Wood can be crafted, trimmed and shaped easily and provides greater flexibility on site should the customer require small changes.

If steel framing has to be cut, packed or adjusted, it often requires remanufacturing or re-engineering.

A home built with timber framing is much easier to renovate than a home built with steel. Many classic kiwi homes over the years have been remodelled in all sorts of ways with new walls, additional windows, new rooms or by building up another level.

And it can all be achieved with common wood working tools and building techniques that have been thoroughly proven.

Renovating a steel framed home is far more complex and will often require greater reliance on engineering input and specialist trades.
